 Trevor Brennan Event: White Collar Boxing-in aid of the Martin Codyre Fund Location: The Tripod, Dublin. Part of the production Brief was to interview President Mary McAleese. Brid Deery, our chief reporter took to the task with “Gusto” and confidence. WhiteCollarBoxing.ie was formed in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength hosting events nationwide. Reporter Brid Deery Our camera crew attended the teachers protest march in Dublin city a few months ago to capture the mood of the marchers. To do this our presenter (Brid Deery) got in among the protesters and spoke to some of them. Some very angry people. Your Comments please. Matt Ryan.  John Phelan I have just completed a series of “Internet video blogs” for local election candidate “John Phelan”. He is standing in the “South Dublin Area” Rathfarnham, Ballyboden. Having looked at “Barack Obama’s” web casts he decided this was the way he wanted to communicate with his constituents. The web casts went live last week and judging by the response and number of hits it seems to be working. The first interview we did was with “Mark Connelly” from the “Woodfield Residents” assco. He told us the residents have spent over 10 years complaining about the traffic lights issues at the entrance to the estate with no joy. After posting the clip on johns site the council contacted Mark and said they would address the issue ASAP. White Collar Boxing originated in the legendary Gleasons gym in New York in 1988. The first contest was held between Dr. Richard Novak an attorney and Dr. David Lawrence who held a Phd. in English Literature. After the contest the two Gentlemen went to dinner to celebrate the birth of a new sport.
Since then White Collar Boxing has been the fastest growing corporate contact sport in the world. Gleasons Gyms membership is made up of 75% White Collar Boxers.Since the release of Hollywood blockbusters “Million Dollar Baby” and “Cinderella Man” White Collar Boxing membership has trebled in the U.S.
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing one of the most popular priests in Balbriggan, Fr.Michael Murtagh. He is based in “St.Peter and Pauls” church and I spoke to him about his views on marriage. Having been a priest for over 32 years, Fr. Michael has married more that 1300 couples and gives some valuable insights into marriage including “Your Never to Old to get Married”!
